Our Work
Our aim is to improve emotional well-being and empower at-risk children and young people through interaction with horses by addressing:
Proposed Solution
Horses are animals that are highly attuned to their surroundings and provide immediate feedback to those in their environment. It is widely recognised that the interaction between people and horses has powerful and varied benefits encompassing physical, mental, emotional and intellectual.
Emma Thomas, CEO of Young Minds, described early intervention community support as the “missing third” that is necessary to complement the support available in clinical NHS services and in schools.
1.
We will offer equine-assisted learning sessions to all referred at-risk young people from local schools, boroughs and clinical NHS services.
2.
Offering a bespoke 12-week programme with follow-up sessions available for all participants.
3.
Action-based programme based on participants age and needs.
4
Develop strategies to evaluate youth’s vantage sensitivities to ensure long-lasting benefits.
“70% of participants of an equine assisted intervention programme for young people showed improved attendance and engagement with school, improved relationships, reduced problem behaviours and greater self-belief” (Multidisciplinary Scientific Journal, 2019).
